DISCOVER THE MONTADO
A good way to discover montados, admire the harmony of its colours and the intensity of its odour is to let yourself be surprised by the details. Take a walk or a bike tour through the rural trails.
LAGOONS
Both the Santo André lagoon and the reservoir of the Campilhas dam offer excellent conditions for canoeing less than half an hour away. At Montadinho we can rent the equipment you need.
NATURE WATCHING
The lagoons of Santo André and Sancha is a prime location for bird watching (see
Guide to the Birds). But there is much more to enjoy in relation to the observation of flora and fauna.
THE VILLAGE
São Bartolomeu da Serra is a small village in the neighborhood of Santiago do Cacém. One can find in the older area, near the church, some good examples of popular architecture. The historical center of Santiago, with its old church and castle worth a walking visit. Halfway (within 10 minutes away) are the ruins of the roman city of Mirobriga, whose visit is mandatory.
